Developer Relations Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is the founding US presence for an open-source MLOps and AI infrastructure company, reporting directly to leadership. You will own the San Francisco go-to-market motion end-to-end, sitting at the intersection of community building, technical evangelism, and growth. The role exists to turn community signals into pipeline and reputation into measurable outcomes. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Launch and grow a recurring SF meetup series from scratch, targeting the ML infrastructure community. - Represent the company credibly at AI/infra meetups, hackathons, and conferences across the Bay Area. - Build and maintain relationships across the SF AI, ML, and infra ecosystem, connecting people and turning conversations into lasting partnerships. - Create and ship technical content including talks, blog posts, demo videos, and social posts grounded in real community feedback. - Demo a Python framework live in front of technical audiences, answer hard questions, and read production code without hiding behind slides. - Instrument events and wire product and community signals (CRM, GitHub, analytics, and enrichment tools) into automated workflows so every conversation becomes a traceable pipeline entry. - Feed product and GTM teams a steady stream of ground-level intelligence on what builders are making, what frustrates them, and who is evaluating what. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 2 or more years in DevRel, community building, growth, or developer-facing GTM, preferably at an early-stage or resource-constrained company rather than a large enterprise. - Proficient enough in Python to demo a framework live, read production code, work with APIs, and troubleshoot in front of engineering audiences. - Proven track record designing, executing, and growing recurring community events with documented attendance and engagement metrics. - Experience converting community or product-usage activity (open-source signals, GitHub activity, product telemetry) into leads or measurable growth outcomes. - Comfortable with the modern GTM stack: CRM, enrichment platforms, light automation, and LLM-based workflows. - Strong systems thinking, turning one-off hustles into repeatable, measurable motions. - Self-directed and comfortable running solo without heavy oversight. - Existing network in the SF AI, ML, or infrastructure community and a visible personal brand (talks, events, or following). - Familiarity with open-source community dynamics, MLOps, LLMOps, or agent-infrastructure landscapes is a strong plus. - Based in San Francisco or willing to relocate. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: $160,000 to $220,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION On-site in San Francisco, CA, USA. In-person presence is core to this role; remote arrangements are not available.
