Baseband Developer
Company description: Ericsson AB Job description: Join our Team About this opportunity: Are you a newly graduated, curious software professional ready to help build our Baseband Software for 5G and 6G, including our journey toward AI in RAN? We are looking for recent graduates to strengthen our team and shape the next generation of wireless technology. At Ericsson, you are empowered to learn, lead and perform at your best while rotating between different teams, building networks and exploring multiple technical domains. You will be welcomed as your unique self and valued for the skills, talent and perspective you bring. Together with your team, you will drive new functionality from feature systemization to customer acceptance, and maintain existing products. The team jointly systemizes, designs, tests and takes responsibility for the software it delivers. What you will do: You will work with Baseband software — a vital part of our market-leading 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) — developing core Physical Layer (L1) and Scheduler (L2) functionality, and signal processing, while contributing to the evolution toward AI in RAN, where intelligence is embedded directly into the RAN for real-time, intent-driven optimization. You will join teams working either in the Physical Layer (L1) or the Scheduler (L2), and be part of the journey as we move into 6G. Together with your fellow Baseband developers, you will: Develop high-quality baseband software using C/C++ and Python. Design, implement and verify new 5G features and future 6G standards, including L1/L2 functionality and signal processing algorithms. Apply your AI/ML knowledge to understand and implement AI-native RAN capabilities, and explore how AI models are executed at L1/L2 to improve traffic steering, spectral efficiency, link adaptation and energy efficiency. Contribute to innovation activities across organizations. Work in a cross-functional, multicultural environment with supportive teammates. The skills you bring: Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Wireless Communication, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent. Strong interest in embedded software development, especially C/C++ for real-time systems, and foundational knowledge in AI/ML (e.g. neural networks, supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning). Passion for signal processing, real-time embedded systems, and technologies paving the way toward 6G, combined with curiosity for the latest tech trends and solving new, complex problems. Open-minded, proactive and eager to learn; you enjoy challenges, continuously seek to improve, and are willing to work beyond your immediate field to broaden your competence. Knowledge and interest in 4G/5G wireless communication (e.g. 3GPP specifications, traffic scheduling, signal processing, RF or air-interface measurements, x86 or multi-core DSP programming, and real-time design patterns) is a strong plus.
