Core Gameplay Engineer - THE FINALS
As a Gameplay Engineer at Embark, you will work on THE FINALS , alongside some of the most talented people in the games industry. We believe that great games are made in creative environments, where builds are always playable, and teams can move fast and test as many ideas as possible. In close collaboration with our designers, you will build easy-to-use systems that enable us to iterate quickly and that encourage experimentation. The games we're making are built in Unreal, using C++, blueprints and a scripting language called Angelscript. This role spans both content and the systems underneath it. You'll work on features players feel directly, as well as performance, tooling, architecture and networking. We care about building things once and building them well, and we keep pushing to make what's built for one part of the game useful to whoever needs it next. You'll have experienced engineers around you to learn from, and room to grow into ownership of complex problems. Examples of responsibilities Collaborate with a wide range of talents at Embark to deliver multi-platform technical solutions that create fun gameplay for our players Help the team debug and fix complex issues Build tech that increases the productivity of our daily work Take technical ownership of features and systems in the game – both the ones players interact with directly and the ones that quietly make everything else possible Work with production and design to scope and plan your work, and keep it visible as it moves Help us keep a live game healthy and fast to iterate on Requirements Strong background in C++ Proven experience in computer science fundamentals and software architecture A good grasp of what good gameplay looks and feels like A passion for game systems and a desire to contribute across the gameplay codebase Nice to haves Experience with Unreal Engine (C++, Blueprints), or another engine, in a commercial environment Experience with Angelscript (or similar scripting languages) Previously worked with first-person or competitive shooters Full-cycle game development experience, from pre-production through launch and into live ops with regular releases.
