Cyber Security Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Security Engineer for a technically advanced assignment within Cyber Defense. You will work hands-on with the operation, troubleshooting, development, and automation of cloud-based security platforms and the data and telemetry pipelines supporting the organization’s cyber defense capabilities. The environment is primarily based on Microsoft Azure, and the role combines cloud engineering, security engineering, platform operations, and automation. This is a senior individual contributor role where you will be expected to take significant technical ownership. You should be comfortable taking on complex or initially unclear problems, defining the technical approach, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, and driving the work through to a stable, documented, and sustainable production solution. Key Responsibilities You will: Operate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve cloud-based Cyber Defense platforms. Develop and maintain security telemetry pipelines and integrations between cloud and security services. Develop automation and platform improvements using Python, Terraform, Git, and CI/CD. Monitor service health, data flows, performance, cost, and security. Investigate incidents, failures, and technical issues and implement sustainable long-term fixes. Work hands-on with Linux-based environments, virtual machines, containers, and services. Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, architecture decisions, risk documentation, and lifecycle plans. Collaborate closely with SOC analysts and other engineering teams. Translate operational and security requirements into reliable, reusable, and scalable technical solutions. Take technical ownership and drive initiatives across multiple teams. Required Experience We are looking for someone with: Strong hands-on Microsoft Azure engineering experience in production environments. Strong *Linux/nix skills, including troubleshooting virtual machines, containers, applications, and services. Practical Python development and automation experience. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform. Experience with Git and modern CI/CD processes. Hands-on experience with containerized environments. Strong troubleshooting skills and experience resolving complex production issues. The ability to independently take technical ownership and drive initiatives from an unclear problem to a documented and sustainable production outcome. Highly Desirable Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas would be particularly valuable: Microsoft Sentinel Microsoft Defender XDR SIEM/SOAR platforms Security Engineering / Cyber Defense SOC environments Large-scale security telemetry and logging solutions Kubernetes KQL / Log Analytics Detection Engineering Security Automation Azure Monitor and related observability services DevSecOps Seniority & Technical Leadership This is a Senior Individual Contributor position. Formal people-management experience is not required. However, you should be comfortable taking a clear technical leadership role. You need to be able to independently lead technical initiatives, coordinate across teams, make sound engineering decisions, and create structure when requirements or problems are initially unclear. We are looking for someone who goes beyond solving the immediate issue and ensures that solutions are robust, automated, well-documented, maintainable, and sustainable in production. You should be comfortable operating at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, security operations, automation, and engineering, while collaborating effectively with both security specialists and other technical teams.
