Data Governance Expert
At E.ON Energidistribution, we believe that data is one of our most important assets. Applications, systems and use cases may change over time – but the value of well-managed, trusted data remains. The Data Management team is leading E.ON Energidistribution’s Data Governance initiative. Our mission is simple: Find it. Trust it. Use it. Share it. Data Governance embedded in the business We believe that effective Data Governance is not a separate activity performed alongside the business – it is part of how we work with our processes and data every day. Data ownership is therefore embedded in our business processes. Each process has a Data Owner, accountable for the data created and managed within the process, supported by one or more Data Stewards who work hands-on with the data, its meaning, quality and governance. The Data Management team provides the framework, methods and tools that enable Data Owners and Data Stewards to fulfil these responsibilities. Together, we establish clear ownership, common definitions, data quality requirements and trusted data products across our data domains. As a Data Governance Expert, you will be an important link between the Data Management team and the business, helping Data Owners and Data Stewards make Data Governance a natural part of their existing processes and ways of working. Your role You will support Data Stewards and Data Owners in the business in implementing our Data Governance framework within their respective processes and data domains. Your responsibilities will include: • Embedding Data Governance in business processes – work with Data Owners and Data Stewards to establish practical ways of incorporating data ownership, data quality and data management into existing business processes. • Making data understandable – facilitate initiatives to establish a clear understanding of the meaning, context and business relevance of data, and ensure this knowledge is documented and discoverable in our Data Catalog. • Turning data into products – identify opportunities for trusted data products that can be delivered by the domain data team. • Driving data quality – translate business needs into data quality requirements, lead the implementation of automated data quality checks, and make data quality transparent and monitorable. • Connecting business and technology – work across organisational boundaries to turn business needs into practical data governance solutions and help build a stronger data-driven organisation. Who are you? We are looking for someone who combines business understanding, analytical thinking and a genuine interest in data. You bring: • A business mindset and a passion for data and its potential to create business value. • Strong analytical skills and the ability to explore data, identify patterns and understand problems. • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain data-related topics to different audiences. • Strong networking and collaboration skills and an ability to build relationships across business and IT. • Experience from business development, for example working as a Business Analyst or in a similar role. • Experience of data quality initiatives. • Experience of implementing a Data Catalog, preferably Collibra. • An understanding of databases and data concepts, such as data warehouses, data lakes and data modelling. Why join us? This is an opportunity to work with Data Governance in practice, embedded directly into the way the business works. You will help shape how Data Owners and Data Stewards take responsibility for data within their processes, while helping establish the common capabilities, methods and tools needed across the organisation. You will work with colleagues across the organisation, gain insight into different parts of the business and help establish capabilities that enable everything from better reporting and automation to AI and advanced analytics. If you are curious about how data can create business value, enjoy connecting people, processes and technology, and want to help build a more data-driven organisation, we would love to hear from you.
