Forward Deployed Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a hands-on, full-stack engineering role embedded within the advisory teams of a tech-enabled tax advisory group. You'll work in tight feedback loops with tax professionals — turning complex, real-world workflows into working software fast. Equal parts engineer and product thinker, you'll own features from scoping all the way through to deployment. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build MVPs in close collaboration with practicing tax advisors to solve concrete workflow problems. - Translate complex advisory and regulatory processes into clear software requirements and working implementations. - Iterate rapidly based on direct feedback from non-technical domain experts. - Own features end-to-end — from requirements gathering and scoping through to production deployment. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 3+ years of experience building and shipping production full-stack software. - Fluent German (spoken and written) — this is a firm requirement. - Strong proficiency with a modern backend framework (NestJS, Express, or similar Node.js-based stack). - Strong proficiency with React or an equivalent modern frontend framework. - Solid full-stack TypeScript skills. - Proven experience owning features end-to-end and working directly with non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements. - A code-first mindset — no reliance on low-code or no-code platforms. - Experience in financial services, tax, accounting, or another regulated advisory domain is a strong plus. - Familiarity with German business processes or the German regulatory environment is a plus. - Background in consulting, professional services, or high-performance operational environments is advantageous. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: €60,000 – €120,000 per year depending on experience. LOCATION On-site in Berlin, Germany.
