Forward Deployed Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a Forward Deployed Engineer role at a YC-backed AI startup building agentic software for the acquisitions and M&A space. You will work directly with customers to translate complex, real-world business problems into scalable software solutions, sitting at the intersection of product and go-to-market on a lean team with direct C-suite visibility. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own customer deployments end-to-end, covering scoping, business logic translation, data ingestion, pipeline delivery, and ongoing optimization for mid-market to large-cap operators. - Build and extend an agentic AI platform in close collaboration with the core software engineering team. - Translate messy, real-world business requirements into autonomous software solutions. - Support go-to-market efforts by joining sales calls and surfacing customer expansion opportunities. - Work with high autonomy on analytical challenges that require both technical depth and strong business judgment. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 3+ years of professional experience in consulting, finance, data engineering, or analytics, ideally combining domain expertise with a desire to grow technical or customer-facing skills. - Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in data warehousing, ETL, and data modeling. - Experience building and deploying data pipelines, migration pipelines, or data integration systems end-to-end. - Familiarity with data warehousing tools such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift. - Hands-on experience building with LLM APIs and AI tools (for example, OpenAI, Anthropic, or LangChain), including personal projects. - Excellent communication skills and business acumen, comfortable engaging with operators and finance leaders, not just engineers. - Exposure to private equity, roll-ups, M&A, or holding company operations is a plus. - US citizenship required; visa sponsorship is not available. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary: $110,000 to $150,000 USD annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION On-site in New York, NY, United States.
