Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is an early founding engineer position at a veterinary healthtech startup, working directly with the CTO to build a practice management platform from the ground up. You'll have genuine ownership over the architecture and features that land in real veterinary practices — your decisions will shape the product from day one. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build full-stack features across a TypeScript/Express backend, React frontend, and PostgreSQL database. - Own entire feature areas end-to-end, from initial conception through production deployment. - Translate user feedback directly into code and see your work used in live clinical environments. - Make early architectural decisions that set the foundation for a scalable system. - Integrate with practice management systems and third-party services. - Balance product thinking with engineering execution — asking why before building. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 2–6 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping web applications. - Strong proficiency across the full stack: TypeScript, Express, React, and PostgreSQL. - Experience making architectural decisions for production systems, including API design and database design. - A product-first mindset — you engage with user needs, not just technical specs. - Genuine ownership and comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving startup environments. - Background in B2B SaaS or vertical software; healthtech or clinical software experience is a plus. - A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field — or equivalent demonstrated competency through shipped work. - Comfort using AI tools to sharpen your own development workflow and productivity. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: €65,000 – €85,000 per year. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION Hybrid (on-site or hybrid) based in Berlin, Germany.
