Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a founding engineering role at an early-stage AI fintech company building intelligent automation for private market operations — think fund accounting, reconciliation, and reporting workflows. You'll work directly alongside the founding team and early design partners to shape both the product and the company itself, with a clear path to engineering leadership. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build and maintain core platform components, including AI agents that capture data from inboxes, web portals, and connected sources. - Design and implement production-grade backend APIs and services that power end-to-end financial operations workflows. - Develop and operate LLM-based and agentic systems that automate reconciliation, data extraction, and journal entry generation. - Collaborate directly with customers and design partners to gather requirements, define the product roadmap, and communicate trade-offs. - Contribute to hiring and help attract exceptional engineering talent as the team grows. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 1–3 years of professional software engineering experience. - Hands-on experience with large language models and agentic/autonomous systems in production environments. - Strong backend development skills, including building and maintaining production-grade APIs and services. - Experience building or operating AI-native operations infrastructure (e.g., for accounting, reconciliation, or treasury). - Domain knowledge in private markets fund accounting, reporting, reconciliation, and treasury processes. - Comfort with ambiguity and high ownership in a small, fast-moving founding team. - Experience working directly with customers or design partners to shape product direction. - Eligible to work in Germany (visa sponsorship available); based in or willing to relocate to Berlin. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: €70,000 – €110,000 per year. Visa sponsorship is available for eligible candidates. LOCATION On-site in Berlin, Germany.
