Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a founding engineering position at an early-stage healthtech startup building a practice management platform for veterinary clinics. You will work directly with the technical co-founder to shape the product and architecture from day one, with real ownership over features that reach customers immediately. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Build full-stack features across a TypeScript/Express backend, React frontend, and PostgreSQL database. - Translate user feedback directly into code and ship to real veterinary practices. - Own entire feature areas end-to-end, from conception through production. - Make early architectural decisions with genuine influence over the tech stack. - Integrate with practice management systems and third-party services. - Balance user needs with technical feasibility, thinking like a product manager while shipping like an engineer. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 2 to 6 years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping web applications. - Strong proficiency with TypeScript, Express, and React for full-stack development. - Solid PostgreSQL skills, including database design and SQL. - Experience making architectural decisions for scalable systems. - Background in a startup environment or demonstrated history of shipping software with real users. - A product-first mindset: you ask why before building, connecting engineering decisions to user needs. - Comfort with ambiguity, rapid pivots, and direct communication. - A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated competency through shipped work. - Experience with B2B SaaS development or vertical software is a plus. - Familiarity with AI tools to improve development workflow and productivity is a plus. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: 65,000 to 85,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION Hybrid or on-site in Berlin, Germany. Candidates must be able and willing to work from Berlin.
