Hardware Engineer – Electronics & Component Verification About the Assignment We are looking for two Hardware Engineers for a long-term consulting assignment within Research & Development at a global technology company in Västerås. The assignment focuses primarily on **second-source verification of electronic components**. The organization has several electronic designs containing components that are currently dependent on a single supplier. Your responsibility will be to investigate, evaluate and verify alternative components that can be introduced as approved second-source options. This is a great opportunity for someone with a solid understanding of electronics and electronic components who enjoys analytical work, technical investigations and structured verification. Key Responsibilities As a Hardware Engineer, you will: * Investigate and evaluate alternative electronic components for second-source qualification. * Compare technical specifications and component datasheets. * Assess whether alternative components meet existing design and product requirements. * Perform different levels of verification depending on component complexity. * Carry out more extensive verification activities when required, covering multiple products and different design features. * Identify potential technical differences, risks and impacts when replacing existing components. * Follow established verification processes and engineering procedures. * Formally document investigations, verification activities and conclusions. * Collaborate with relevant R&D and engineering stakeholders throughout the verification process. The complexity of the investigations will vary. Some components may only require a detailed **datasheet comparison**, while others may require a more comprehensive verification involving several products and design characteristics. Required Skills & Experience We are looking for someone who has: * Good knowledge of **electronics and electronic components**. * Experience or a strong technical background in **hardware engineering/electronics engineering**. * Ability to read, understand and compare technical datasheets and component specifications. * Ability to evaluate component suitability from a technical and functional perspective. * A structured and analytical approach to technical investigations. * Ability to work according to defined processes and produce clear technical documentation. * Ability to quickly learn new and technically complex areas. * Good communication and collaboration skills. * A positive, constructive and solution-oriented attitude. Experience with **component verification, component engineering, electronics design, component qualification or second-source investigations** is considered highly relevant.
