Head of Technology

Head of Technology Location: Sweden (Remote/Hybrid) We are seeking an experienced Head of Technology to lead the technical direction of a growing software company developing digital products. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, guide engineering teams, and help shape the company's technology strategy while maintaining a strong understanding of software architecture and modern development practices. Responsibilities • Lead the architecture, development, and long-term technical strategy for mobile and web applications. • Oversee the software development lifecycle from planning and implementation through deployment and ongoing maintenance. • Design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and cloud infrastructure. • Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams through technical guidance, performance coaching, and knowledge sharing. • Establish and promote engineering best practices, including testing, agile development, sprint planning, code review, and continuous improvement. • Collaborate with product, design, and executive leadership to define technical roadmaps and engineering priorities. • Support the development of reusable software components, internal tools, and engineering standards. • Evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices to improve product quality, reliability, and development efficiency. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience. • At least 10 years of professional software development experience. • At least 5 years of experience leading engineering teams or serving in a senior technical leadership role. • Extensive experience developing native mobile applications using Swift. • Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, performance optimization, and modern software engineering practices. • Experience developing backend services using a modern web application framework (such as Ruby on Rails, Django, ASP.NET Core, Spring Boot, or Node.js). • Experience with relational databases, SQL, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems. • Experience with cloud platforms and modern software deployment practices. • Experience using Git and agile software development methodologies. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Preferred Qualifications • Experience developing software for Apple platforms beyond iOS (such as tvOS, watchOS, macOS, or visionOS). • Experience building or supporting applications that incorporate streaming video or other rich media technologies. • Experience with modern web application frameworks, cloud infrastructure, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines. • Experience designing or operating scalable software systems. • Experience leading distributed or remote engineering teams. • Experience delivering high-availability software products. • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and foster a collaborative engineering culture. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to guide engineering teams while contributing to the design, delivery, and long-term success of high-quality software products.
