International Trainee - Hydro Power Optimisation and Data Analytics Engineer

I feel like we are the change the company wants to see.” Your role as a Trainee Hydro Power Optimisation and Data Analytics Engineer As a Hydro Power Optimisation and Data Analytics Engineer Trainee, you will join Production Support, a specialist and development function that supports safe, efficient and flexible hydropower production through optimisation, data analysis, digital tools and common working methods. You will work closely with optimisation and development engineers, as well as colleagues in Production, Control Centres, Asset Management, IT and Markets. Together, you will turn operational and market-related needs into analyses, decision support and practical improvements for the operation of our generating units. The role combines analytical problem-solving with hands-on development. You will use production and measurement data to evaluate performance, identify deviations and improvement opportunities, and contribute to the development of optimisation models, system services, forecasts, visualisations and data-driven working methods. This is an opportunity to build broad expertise at the intersection of hydropower operations, energy markets, engineering and digitalisation, while contributing to increased flexibility, availability and long-term value from our hydropower assets. Examples of your tasks and responsibilities: Analyse production, operational and market-related data to identify trends, deviations and opportunities for improved performance Support optimisation of generating units, water use and ancillary services through calculations, simulations and structured evaluation Develop and improve analytical models, dashboards, visualisations and decision-support tools Contribute to production analyses and technical studies for plant upgrades, operational changes and investment decisions Work with data quality, measurement data and requirements for reliable and reusable data products.
Requirements for this trainee position A Master of Science in Engineering or equivalent degree in a relevant field, such as Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or Data Science Knowledge of data analysis, statistics, optimisation, modelling or simulation Experience from programming or analytical tools, for example Python Be fluent in Swedish and English; proficiency in additional languages is considered a merit. You also recognize yourself in You approach complex questions in a structured and analytical way, and can turn data into clear conclusions You have an interest in optimisation, digital solutions, and how they create operational and business value You are curious, proactive, and motivated to test new methods while maintaining quality and reliability You enjoy collaborating across professional boundaries, and can communicate technical findings to different audiences You take responsibility, share knowledge, and are motivated by creating practical improvements for the business You are motivated to combine engineering knowledge, data and collaboration to improve hydropower production.
