About the Role You will help build and run a shared integration platform that multiple development teams depend on for reliable, secure, and scalable data flows. This role sits close to the core platform, with a strong focus on Apache Kafka, HiveMQ, Kubernetes, automation, and end-to-end operational ownership. You will work across platform stability, self-service, observability, and continuous improvement, and support project teams when deeper integration expertise is needed. You will collaborate with security, architecture, and development teams in a complex technical environment where resilience, performance, and governance matter. Job DescriptionYou will design, deploy, and operate multi-cluster, multi-region Apache Kafka environments with Strimzi on Kubernetes, as well as HiveMQ brokers. You will drive platform upgrades for Kafka, Strimzi, and HiveMQ, and help keep the platform secure and stable with minimal disruption. You will develop and maintain custom Kafka connectors to move data between legacy systems and cloud environments. You will shape scaling strategies, topology rules, storage setup, and resource allocation for message-heavy workloads. You will manage partition layouts, topic compaction, retention settings, and overall cluster performance. You will design high-availability and disaster recovery solutions, including cross-region replication and automated failover. You will implement governance and security controls around schemas, ACLs, SASL, OAuth/OIDC paths, mTLS, SSL, and RBAC. You will build observability and alerting with Prometheus and Grafana, and define proactive monitoring for platform health. You will perform root cause analysis, improve platform guardrails, and provide Tier 3 support for complex integration issues. You will guide application teams working with Java and Spring Boot on producer and consumer settings, schema handling, and platform best practices. You will build reusable CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions and work with Helm and KEDA to strengthen automation and self-service. RequirementsAt least 4 years of experience with Apache Kafka, Strimzi, Kafka Connect API, and Kraft. At least 4 years of experience working with Java and Spring Boot. Strong experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Experience with PostgreSQL. Experience with Linux, including WSL. Experience with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD. Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Actions and/or Jenkins. Experience with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform or equivalent. Knowledge of Splunk, Fluent Bit, Helm, Grafana, and Prometheus. Experience with Apache Kafka at platform level, including clusters, performance, and security. Experience with HiveMQ broker. Fluent English, spoken and written. You are comfortable with end-to-end operational responsibility. Nice to haveExperience with APIM platforms. Broader cloud experience across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud. Experience with cloud cost optimization. Experience from integration departments in large enterprise environments. Swedish language skills are a plus.
