About the Role You will take a key role in strengthening transaction monitoring models within a large Nordic banking environment. The focus is on financial crime prevention, where robust model development, validation, and governance are critical to how suspicious activity is identified and managed. In this role, you combine analytical depth with practical judgment. You will help set the direction for model design, validation, and governance within the Transaction Monitoring Unit, while working closely with analytics specialists and stakeholders across the organisation. The role suits you if you enjoy turning complex quantitative work into clear, well-documented, and well-governed models that stand up to scrutiny. It is an exciting opportunity to influence how model governance evolves in an important AML context with both strategic and hands-on impact. Job Description You will own the development and validation of transaction monitoring models, with a strong focus on model documentation, review, and governance. You will drive governance activities within the Transaction Monitoring Unit, including validation assessments and implementation of second line feedback. You will set and execute the direction for model development and experimental design, balancing analytical rigor with practical constraints. You will document model design and outcomes, and work closely with the analytics team to ensure assumptions, limitations, and weaknesses are clearly analysed and described. You will provide hands-on support in prototyping tests and analytical methodologies. You will mentor and collaborate with the analytics team to design, test, and implement model SOPs, including data lineage and governance, tuning and calibration, and monitoring of model operations and outcomes. You will represent the organisation professionally in collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders. Requirements Extensive experience in model risk management, model governance, and validation. Strong background in data science, statistics, and quantitative methods. Experience in academic or technical writing, particularly related to model documentation. Advanced degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. You work in a structured and professional way, take initiative, and are comfortable working proactively under your own direction. You communicate clearly and confidently, and can set direction and create results in a dynamic environment. Nice to have Experience in Financial Crime or AML, for example transaction monitoring or work with technology suppliers in the area. Experience with transaction monitoring platforms such as Quantexa. Experience as a model validator or quantitative risk analyst.
