Manager, Strategic Project Execution, Gastroenterology
Key responsibilities: Coordinate and enable the execution of priority Medical Affairs initiatives and tactics across Gastroenterology, including satellite symposia, medical events, advisory boards, and other strategic programs, in partnership with Medical Advisors and cross-functional colleagues. Proactively identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration, create synergies, and embed consistent best practices across the Gastroenterology medical team to maximize shared objectives and impact. Partner with the Medical Therapeutic Area team and Medical Operations to translate strategic priorities into clear workplans, milestones, deliverables, and governance routines that support timely, compliant, and high-quality execution. Collaborate with Medical Advisors and the MSL Manager to develop, coordinate, and track comprehensive field-based scientific plans and activities, ensuring strong alignment between national priorities and field execution. Provide clear visibility on Gastroenterology Medical Affairs activities by tracking timelines, deliverables, risks, decisions, and KPIs. Maintain practical systems, dashboards, and status updates that enable informed decision-making by the TA Lead, Medical Advisors, and Gastroenterology field team. Ensure materials and initiatives meet AbbVie’s internal policies, national regulations, industry guidelines, and best practices. Maintain compliance documentation and audit trails to support regulatory and quality reviews. Drive continuous improvement in Medical Affairs operations by identifying process inefficiencies, championing adoption of effective tools and systems, promoting best practices, and helping create ways of working that improve focus, efficiency, and impact while reinforcing AbbVie’s commitment to scientific integrity, innovation, and patient centricity. Education/Experience required: University degree in life sciences, health sciences, or related field required. Advanced degree (MD, Doctorate, PharmD, or MBA) is a requirement  Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical/biotech or related industry, with demonstrated success in project management, operations, or Medical Affairs. Direct experience supporting Medical Affairs teams or Healthcare Professionals is a strong asset. Demonstrated project management capability, including planning, stakeholder coordination, and timeline/resource management. Experience influencing across teams without direct authority is essential. Demonstrated ability to develop and manage work plans, timelines, and activity tracking. Proven track record of prioritizing competing demands and monitoring progress toward goals with strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to communicate effectively with Healthcare Professionals. Strong commitment to compliance, scientific quality and integrity. Essential skills and abilities: Excellent writing skills in English and in French Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new software systems and digital tools. Key leadership competencies: Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and the ability to prioritize initiatives based on strategic impact and resource availability. Influence key internal stakeholders to drive alignment and execution. Build credibility through competence, reliability, and collaborative spirit. Manage conflict in collaboration with other team members/managers Comfortable with detail-oriented work (scheduling, documentation, process management). Create and maintain systems that reduce friction and enable others to do their best work. Demonstrate adaptability and curiosity. Thrive in a matrix environment with evolving priorities. Approach ambiguity with curiosity and find solutions collaboratively rather than waiting for direction Effectively communicate and collaborate with other team members/managers to ensure alignment on project execution.
