Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role You will work in an advanced automotive product development environment, focusing on new structural chassis components for a shared vehicle platform. This role combines hands-on CAD design with planning, validation follow-up and close collaboration across engineering teams and internal stakeholders. You will take ideas from concept to implementation while helping secure product maturity, technical quality and reliable deliveries. Job Description You design and develop structural chassis components such as brackets, frame components, cross members, cast parts and forged parts. You create and maintain 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings in CATIA V5. You perform basic engineering calculations to support design decisions. You establish, coordinate and follow up test, validation and time plans as part of the product development process. You support simulation activities when needed. You investigate field quality issues and contribute to robust technical solutions. You collaborate with cross-functional teams, internal customers and other stakeholders throughout development. You drive your assignments independently from design through implementation. Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent. Minimum 5 years of experience in design engineering and product development. Previous experience from the automotive industry. Experience from the same platform and system landscape used in this environment. Hands-on experience with OAS, TestIT, FRAS and TTR. Strong experience using CATIA V5. Experience creating and maintaining 2D manufacturing drawings. Experience with GD&T and tolerance chain analysis. Experience designing structural mechanical components. Experience designing steel parts, cast parts, forged parts, brackets and similar structural components. Good understanding of mechanical product development processes. Ability to perform basic engineering calculations related to component design. Fluent English, written and spoken. Ability to complete a background check before the assignment starts. Nice to have Experience with 3DEXPERIENCE (3DX). Fluent Swedish.
