We're now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Range Area Workspaces and IKEA for Business team. Job Description As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll become part of a collaborative product development team responsible for bringing new products from idea to reality. In this role, you'll mainly work with work and gaming chairs, desks and storage solutions, helping create products that improve everyday life at home and at work. Every day looks a little different, but you'll: Develop the mechanical design of products with different materials and functions from concept sketch to final products, normally with the help of development suppliers Apply IKEA’s Shared Solutions, standard components and materials. Secure that all mechanical requirements (legal and functional) are covered by the product design at the lowest cost Develop, document and maintain the digital 3D models and 2D drawings with all relevant dimensions and tolerances according to IKEA CAD Standards Secure that the material choices are good from both sustainability and cost perspective Collaboration, curiosity and learning are part of everyday work. You'll be encouraged to share ideas, ask questions and continuously develop your skills alongside experienced colleagues. Qualifications We're looking for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with collaboration and problem-solving. You are curious, structured and enjoy working together with others to find practical solutions. You communicate openly, build positive relationships and are motivated by creating products that make a difference for customers. Ideally, you have: A university degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar experience. Experience working with product development and mechanical design. Knowledge of materials, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, simulations and 3D modelling. Experience using CAD tools such as SolidWorks and product lifecycle management systems like PTC Windchill. Experience with FEM analysis is beneficial.
