responsibilities. Special or ad hoc projects may be assigned from time to time. Cargo Inspections Perform cargo inspections to verify the condition, quality, and quantity of cargo. Inspect containers. Perform ship hold inspections. Write reports on completed inspections and respond to client questions and concerns. Support other employees with their duties as needed. Petroleum Product Inspections Carry out oil cargo inspections to verify the condition, quality, and quantity on board tankers. Perform oil cargo inspections to verify the condition, quality, and quantity in shore tanks. Perform tank inspections to verify tank cleanliness, compliance, and condition. Carry out bunker tests. Education: High school diploma (or equivalent) is required Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience gained through education. Union Work Schedule variable: Day / Evening / Night / Weekend - 40 hours / week Knowledge / Skills  A high school diploma or equivalent is required, as a minimum. Post-secondary education in cargo inspection or related field would be considered a strong asset. At least 1 year of experience in a field related to petroleum and cargo inspections is an asset. Be meticulous and punctual when performing tasks associated with oil sampling. Demonstrate a desire to work and learn more about the marine/oil industry. Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions in a timely manner. Proficiency in various types of software (Word, Excel, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar and writing texts. Ability to work in a group and independently. Proven time management skills and attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure. Extended hours may be required on occasion. The successful candidate must be able to work irregular hours according to shipping schedules (days, nights, weekends, and holidays), in addition to being on call 24 hours a day.
