<p>Advert Closes: Wednesday 15th July</p><p><strong><em>Are you a Platform & Data Engineer who thrives on building the heartbeat of modern digital operations?</em></strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">At The Crown Estate, we manage a diverse portfolio that spans iconic London destinations, regional assets, and the UK’s seabed, but behind it all is a growing digital ecosystem powered by data and cloud platforms.</p><p class="MsoNormal">We’re looking for a Platform & Operational Data Engineer to help us build and run the critical platforms and data pipelines that enable smarter decisions, stronger operations, and long-term value.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>What you’ll be doing</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">This is a unique hybrid role at the intersection of platform engineering and data engineering, giving you real ownership across infrastructure, integrations, and data flows.</p><p class="MsoNormal">You’ll:</p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Deploy, manage, and optimise Azure and on-prem platforms, ensuring high performance and reliability</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Maintain applications and services, including patching, upgrades, and health monitoring</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Design and run scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, and Azure SQL</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Apply strong data engineering practices including data modelling, CDC, SCD2, and schema evolution</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Build integrations using Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and APIs, leveraging event-driven architectures</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code using Azure DevOps, ARM, Bicep, or Terraform</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Embed security, governance, and observability (RBAC, OAuth2, encryption, monitoring, telemetry)</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Lead troubleshooting, incident prevention, and continuous improvement initiatives</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>What you’ll bring</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">You’re someone who enjoys working across the stack from infrastructure to data pipelines, with a passion for building robust, secure, and scalable systems.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>You’ll have:</strong></p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Excellent experience across Azure cloud services, infrastructure, and data platforms</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Hands-on expertise with ADF, Databricks (PySpark), Synapse, Azure SQL, and Cosmos DB</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Experience designing integrations and event-driven architectures</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Proven DevOps experience with Azure DevOps, Git, and Infrastructure as Code</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Knowledge of security, governance, and data management principles, including Microsoft Purview</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Development skills in Python and/or C#, with a focus on clean, maintainable code</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>How you’ll succeed</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">You’ll stand out if you:</p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Take a holistic approach to platform and data engineering</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Are a natural problem solver, focused on preventing issues, not just fixing them</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Communicate clearly and influence stakeholders confidently</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Thrive in Agile environments and enjoy driving continuous improvement</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Stay curious and keep up with the latest cloud and data engineering trends</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Why The Crown Estate?</strong></p><p class="MsoNormal">This is your chance to:</p><ul><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Work on meaningful, large-scale platforms and data ecosystems</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Shape how data drives decision-making across a nationally significant organisation</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Join a team committed to modern engineering practices and innovation</p></li><li class="MsoNormal"><p>Be part of a purpose-driven organisation with a focus on sustainability and long-term impact</p></li></ul><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>Build the platforms.
