Principal, Back-End Engineer

Key Responsibilities Provide technical leadership to Eats Engineering organization and ensure that our engineers are working on building scalable and fault-tolerant systems Engage with senior leadership and product owner(s) in developing and executing technical strategy and roadmap ensuring scalability and simplicity Drive mission critical projects in collaboration with various stakeholders and engineers to solve complex business problems Own the overall architecture plan and application of best practice architecture, design patterns and ongoing simplification of the system landscape Dive deep to solve critical system issues. Ideally identify them before they happen and device a plan to address them Help recruit top tier senior engineers to develop and grow a high performance and impact-driven organization Develop, mentor, and coach engineers on architecture, design and engineering best practices Communicate clearly and concisely with the team members, peers and leadership team Own definition, measurement, and reporting of system and operational metrics Minimum Qualifications 10+ years of industry experience building B2C scale products, preferably in Java stack and AWS cloud environment 7+ years of experience in technical leadership roles. Demonstrated experience in driving technical vision and execution at an organization / business unit level Hands on technical skills in designing, building and delivering scalable and highly available products and services Solid technical expertise and experience in Java development, system & data architecture, distributed computing & storage, messaging services, caches and performance tuning Experience collaborating and driving initiatives across globally distributed teams Data driven, business centric, and a high bias for action and impact. Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive Strong verbal and written communication skills Bachelor/Master/PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or related field Ecommerce / Food Delivery product development experience, a big plus
