Product Engineer (Mid-Level)

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a full-stack Product Engineer role at an early-stage AI recruiting platform connecting top talent directly with startups. You'll work closely with founders across the entire product lifecycle — from scoping and architecture to shipping user-facing features — and play a meaningful role in shaping technical direction as the company scales. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own end-to-end product features from requirements and design through to production deployment. - Design APIs and data models, implementing both frontend and backend code. - Ship user-facing experiences that balance usability and performance, iterating based on feedback and metrics. - Integrate LLM and AI capabilities into core product flows to make intelligence reliable for end users. - Build and maintain scalable backend services, data schemas, CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and automated testing. - Collaborate directly with founders, product, and design to prioritize work and define success metrics. - Contribute to architecture and roadmap discussions, making pragmatic tradeoffs suited to early-stage growth. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 2–8 years of software engineering experience with a proven track record of shipping user-facing products. - Strong full-stack proficiency: TypeScript and React/Next.js on the frontend; Python or Node.js on the backend. - Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and at least one major cloud platform (AWS or GCP). - Practical, production-grade experience integrating LLMs or other AI services (engineering focus, not research). - Demonstrated product ownership — ability to translate user problems into measurable, shipped solutions. - Comfort operating in small teams with limited process, high ambiguity, and fluid role boundaries. - Experience implementing monitoring, observability, automated testing, and CI/CD for production systems. - Meaningful startup experience and evidence of rapid progression or notable impact. - Nice to have: experience building multi-tenant or enterprise-ready systems, real-time or high-throughput applications, or working in regulated industries such as healthcare, fintech, or legal. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary: $150,000 – $300,000 USD per year (equity likely given stage). Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION On-site in San Francisco, CA. This role requires regular in-person presence.
