Senior Infrastructure Specialist About the Assignment We are looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Specialist for a consulting assignment within a large international industrial and technology organization in Västerås. This is a broad and highly technical role within a complex enterprise and industrial IT environment. You will work hands-on across infrastructure, virtualization, networking, cybersecurity, backup and recovery, Windows and Linux platforms, as well as Industrial IT and Operational Technology (OT). The ideal candidate is a senior and self-sufficient infrastructure professional who is comfortable moving between hands-on troubleshooting, technical design, industrial IT environments, and strategic infrastructure initiatives. Location: Västerås, Sweden – onsite Assignment period: 19 October 2026 – 30 June 2027 Scope: 100% Language: English and Swedish Profecient Key Responsibilities As a Senior Infrastructure Specialist, you will: Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments, including Debian, Ubuntu and RHEL-based distributions. Manage virtualization platforms such as Hyper-V, VMware and Proxmox VE. Design, operate and troubleshoot storage solutions including SAN, NAS, iSCSI, Fibre Channel and ZFS-based systems. Manage Docker and container-based deployments, as well as PKI certificates. Administer backup solutions such as Veeam Backup & Replication and Commvault. Design, test and execute disaster recovery, infrastructure migration and recovery procedures. Design and troubleshoot enterprise networks, including VLANs, Layer 2/Layer 3 services, fibre infrastructure, wireless networks and firewalls. Support infrastructure hardening, certificate-based authentication and secure remote access solutions. Support the integration between enterprise IT and factory/industrial automation environments. Collaborate with engineering teams around PLC infrastructure, industrial networks, SCADA, remote maintenance and manufacturing systems. Develop infrastructure automation using PowerShell, Python and Ansible. Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical incidents and lead troubleshooting across multiple technology domains. Participate in infrastructure projects, technical planning and continuous improvement. Maintain technical documentation, standards and operational procedures. Your Background We are looking for a senior infrastructure professional with broad hands-on experience across several infrastructure domains. You should have strong knowledge and practical experience within areas such as: Windows Server and Linux Virtualization – Hyper-V, VMware and/or Proxmox Enterprise networking and network segmentation SAN/NAS and enterprise storage Backup and disaster recovery Cybersecurity and infrastructure hardening PowerShell, Python and/or Ansible Container technologies such as Docker Experience from manufacturing, industrial IT or OT environments is highly desirable. Knowledge or experience within Industrial Control Systems (ICS), PLC infrastructure, SCADA, NIS2 and machinery-related regulatory requirements is considered a strong advantage. Personal Profile To succeed in this assignment, you are highly self-sufficient and comfortable taking ownership of technically complex environments. You have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills combined with a pragmatic engineering mindset. You communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are comfortable moving between strategic infrastructure discussions and hands-on technical problem solving. A strong focus on reliability, security, documentation and operational excellence is essential.
