(Senior) Analytics Engineer
We’re looking for an (Senior) Analytics Engineer to join Knowit’s Services team. In this role, you’ll combine business understanding with practical data platform development, working with our clients and helping shape Knowit’s own internal data platform.
You might already be a senior professional or ready to take the next step towards that level. What matters most is your ability to understand business needs, translate them into technical solutions and take those solutions into practice.
What the role is about
You’ll join a close team of seven professionals whose expertise spans data engineering, data modelling and BI. We work together across client accounts, sharing knowledge and helping each other solve problems. Our way of working brings continuity to client relationships and gives you colleagues who understand the context of your work.
Our clients typically need broad support: from clarifying a business problem to integrating source data, building data models and making the results usable. You’ll work across several accounts, with your responsibilities shaped by your strengths and the clients’ needs.
We develop data platforms in close cooperation with our maintenance colleagues. Your focus will be on developing and improving solutions, with an understanding of how they can be maintained over time.
Alongside client work, roughly half of your role will focus on developing Knowit’s internal data platform. Here, you’ll work closely with technical colleagues and business stakeholders, helping identify development needs and turn them into working solutions.
Your work could include:
- Discussing business needs with stakeholders and identifying the problems worth solving.
- Building and improving data pipelines , source integrations and maintaining cloud data platforms .
- Designing data models and semantic and context layers that give data a clear, shared business meaning.
- Developing data applications with Streamlit and making data accessible through suitable analytics tools.
- Developing our internal platform , particularly with Snowflake and dbt, alongside Tableau.
- Exploring and implementing capabilities for AI applications and agents , including Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations and capabilities within Snowflake.
Building data platforms for analytics and AI
Our development direction is towards platforms that serve a wider range of uses, including AI applications and agents alongside reporting and dashboards.
For you, this means thinking about how data should be structured, described and made accessible so it can support both today’s business questions and emerging use cases. Semantic modelling is an important part of this work: helping people and applications interpret data consistently.
You don’t need to arrive with all the answers. We’re looking for curiosity, sound technical judgement and a willingness to develop these approaches together with the team.
What do we expect from you?
You have several years of relevant experience in analytics engineering, data engineering or a similar role combining business needs with technical delivery. You’re comfortable taking responsibility for your work, asking questions and involving colleagues when their expertise will help.
We’re particularly interested in:
- Business understanding and stakeholder collaboration . You can explore the need behind a request, clarify requirements and explain technical choices to different audiences.
- Strong practical data modelling skills . You can turn source data and business concepts into clear, maintainable models. Experience with semantic and context modelling is especially valuable.
- Experience with modern cloud data platforms , such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery or Fabric.
- Experience with data transformation and modelling tools . We use dbt extensively, so hands-on experience is valuable. A strong modelling background and readiness to learn dbt also give you a good foundation.
- Familiarity with Git and CI/CD practices , and a basic understanding of AWS and/or Azure .
- An interest in developing data applications, including working with Streamlit.
- Good communication skills in English. Finnish is welcome, but it is not required.
You’ll likely enjoy this role if you like variety, working closely with business stakeholders and following a solution from the initial question through to implementation.
We also value experience with integration tools such as Fivetran, Frends or native AWS and Azure components, as well as established BI tools such as Tableau or Power BI or YAML-based ones such as Lightdash or dbt charts.
What do we offer you?
At Knowit, we value broad expertise as well as the willingness to explore and master new areas. We take pride in our hands-on way of working and our deep technical expertise.
And because we don't want this to be just a one-sided wish list, we want you to have the opportunity to shape your role as an expert and take ownership of your professional development, with our support. Everyone is welcome to be their whole self at Knowit, and we consider a relaxed yet professional working community valuable in its own right.
Here is what we offer:
- A fixed monthly salary of 5500 – 6100€ , depending on your skills, experience and capabilities.
- A team and community where it is easy to grow and get support when you need it. Our people are at different stages of their careers, and we offer opportunities that challenge and develop both recent graduates and more experienced professionals.
- Our People Lead model , which has received a lot of positive feedback internally. We believe that a manager's most important responsibility is to ensure that you, as an expert, have the best possible conditions to succeed in your work and develop professionally.
- Time and resources to develop your expertise during working hours , including training, certifications and guild activities. We want to invest in your professional development.
