Wind power is growing, in every sense of the word. Modvion designs and develops a patented modular wind turbine tower made of laminated wood, engineered to reach higher altitudes and unlock wind resources previously out of reach. Laminated wood, nature's carbon fibre, enables efficient logistics for tall towers while substantially cutting the carbon footprint of wind power. We are moving from proven, single-tower projects into a phase of scaling delivery, and every project we take on right now is a critical step in proving that model to the market. The role In this role you will become a member of our product development team. You will work with strength analysis of our wooden wind turbine towers to ensure that they withstand all the extreme loads that they are exposed to during their service life. The towers are designed based on load cases from the wind turbine OEMs. We develop tools and methods to apply the loads on our structure and its sub-components. Since we push the limits for how wood is used in mechanical engineering, we need to develop novel methods for the structural analysis which are outside the standard borders of design guidelines. The product development team comprise expertise in engineering design, method development, mechanical testing, and CAE analysis. We often work in cross-functional teams with our other tech departments focusing on manufacturing and installation. Who you are For this role we are looking for a dedicated and methodical strength analyst with experience. You have worked on a variety of products that are exposed to complex loads and are now eager to apply that experience on our wooden wind turbine towers. You are looking for a broad position where you will work closely with your colleagues to find the best solution. As our design is driven mainly by strength properties, the team’s work has a great influence on design decisions. You have started to explore how AI can contribute to FE analysis and accelerate the path from data to insight. We also believe that you Have a MSc in Mechanical, Civil, Physics Engineering, or equivalent At least 10 years of professional experience in FE analysis Experience in fatigue assessment and theory A couple of years experience in ANSYS Genuinely understand that a problem can be solved in many different ways. Know how to read and extract new information from scientific papers Strive to comprehend product requirements from many different perspectives, for example manufacturing and installation. Continuously make an effort to improve your understanding of the connection between theory and practice.
