Senior Development Engineer – Customized Heavy Vehicles We are looking for a Senior Development Engineer for a consulting assignment within customized heavy-vehicle development. The organization develops customer-specific vehicle solutions for a wide range of applications, including alternative fuels, electrification, mining, heavy haulage, emergency vehicles and other specialized operations. Each assignment begins with a specific customer requirement that must be translated into a technically feasible, high-quality and production-ready solution. You will join an experienced engineering team working in close collaboration with production and several other functions across the organization. The assignment As a Development Engineer, you will take a broad technical responsibility for developing complete customized vehicle configurations. Rather than focusing solely on an individual component, you will evaluate how the requested adaptation affects the complete vehicle and its interacting systems. You will use an established modular product architecture in creative and technically sound ways to meet customer requirements. The work includes analyzing requirements, identifying suitable technical solutions and ensuring that each configuration can be manufactured and delivered with the required quality. The assignments vary significantly in scope and complexity. Some involve established adaptations with short lead times, while others require in-depth technical investigation, cross-functional coordination and the development of new solutions. An important part of the role is balancing customer requirements, technical feasibility, quality, manufacturability and time to market. Responsibilities Your responsibilities will include: - developing complete customer-specific vehicle configurations, - translating customer requirements into feasible technical solutions, - assessing how adaptations affect the complete vehicle and its systems, - conducting technical investigations for new or complex adaptations, - working with modular product structures and configuration rules, - creating and maintaining technical specifications and engineering documentation, - coordinating solutions with production and other engineering functions, - ensuring that solutions meet applicable quality, safety and manufacturing requirements, - managing assignments with varying complexity and short lead times, - contributing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement within the team. Your profile We are looking for a senior engineer who takes initiative, enjoys learning and is motivated by varied technical challenges. You understand the broader product perspective while also being able to investigate technical details when required. You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. The role requires strong communication skills, an open approach to knowledge sharing and the ability to coordinate effectively with colleagues from different technical and operational functions. Since customer demands often require a quick response, you must be comfortable working at a high pace and meeting challenging deadlines without compromising quality. Required qualifications - University degree in engineering or an equivalent technical education. - Several years of relevant experience within research and development. - Experience in product development, design engineering or systems integration. - Ability to translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions. - Experience in technical investigations and engineering documentation. - Ability to understand complex products from both a system and detailed perspective. - Strong communication and collaboration skills. - Professional proficiency in English. Meriting qualifications - Experience from the automotive, heavy-vehicle or special-vehicle industry. - Experience in complete-vehicle development or vehicle integration. - Experience in customer-specific or low-volume product development. - Knowledge of modular product architectures. - Experience in variant management, product structures or configuration management. - Experience in defining technical conditions, configuration rules or product dependencies. - Knowledge of production requirements and manufacturability. - Experience working in PLM, PDM or similar engineering systems. - Professional proficiency in Swedish.
