Senior Frontend Lead Engineer
DigitalRoute is the company behind how the digital world gets paid. For over 25 years, we've turned massive, complex usage data into trusted, finance-grade information that enterprises rely on to bill, price, and grow. Today, more than 400 companies across SaaS, AI, cloud, media, and telecom run their revenue-critical data through our platform with precision to the cent and zero downtime. And the timing couldn't be better. The entire digital economy is moving away from static subscriptions toward usage- and outcome-based pricing over 75% of new digital products will price this way by 2028. That shift makes what we do essential infrastructure for every business that wants to compete. Our customers reach market 2x faster, grow 4x quicker, and cut revenue leakage by more than half. This is a company where your work has real impact and we're just getting started. We’re now rebuilding our Usage Engine platform. It’s a ground-up, Kubernetes-native, streaming-first data mediation engine with a completely new user experience. The frontend is central to the product. It’s a Svelte single-page application where engineers design, inspect, and debug pipelines that process billions of usage records every day. Think visual workflow editor, keyboard-first interactions, dense tables, deep links everywhere, and a product that needs to feel more like a desktop engineering tool than a web form. As Senior Frontend Lead Engineer, you’ll own the application, its architecture, its standards, and how it grows. This is a rare greenfield rewrite where the frontend is treated as a core part of the platform. What you'll do Lead the design and build of a demanding web application: a graph-based workflow editor with automatic layout using d3 and ELK, embedded code editing with CodeMirror 6, custom language support, diff and merge views, dense data tables, and operational views built for speed.Own the frontend architecture and technical direction for a Svelte 5, SvelteKit, TypeScript SPA built with Vite. That includes component structure, state and reactivity patterns, rendering performance, accessibility, and the engineering standards the team works by.Connect deeply with the platform’s REST APIs, served by a Vert.x backend, OIDC-based authentication, and a GitOps-native configuration model where every artifact edited in the UI is a version-controlled file, and merging to main deploys it.Shape how AI-assisted features show up in the product. The platform includes pipeline copilots, anomaly detection, and self-healing pipelines. The frontend is where users actually meet those features, so the interaction design matters.Own quality with the team. We use Vitest and Testing Library for unit and component tests, Playwright for end-to-end tests, svelte-check for type safety, and CI gates that block code that doesn’t meet the bar.Work closely with PMs, product owners, UX, backend teams, and the CTO office. The users are highly technical, so part of the job is turning their needs into clear frontend decisions.Guide the team through design discussions, hands-on code review, and strong pull request habits. We use GitHub, CI gates, and CODEOWNERS.Use AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot as part of your workflow, and help the team use them well.Stay close to the Svelte ecosystem and the wider frontend field, bringing in tools and patterns only when they genuinely help. What you'll bring Experience as a frontend architect or lead frontend engineer on complex, data-heavy applications. Developer tools, IDEs, visual editors, monitoring products, observability tools, or similar products are the right kind of background. Content-heavy websites are less relevant here.Deep hands-on experience with TypeScript and modern component frameworks. Strong Svelte experience is a big plus, especially Svelte 5 and runes-based reactivity. If you come from React or Vue and want to go deep on Svelte, we’d still like to talk.Experience building interactive canvas or graph-based interfaces. Dragging, zooming, selection, automatic layout, large datasets, frequent updates — you know where these interfaces get hard, and how to keep them fast.Comfort with embedded editor tooling such as CodeMirror or similar tools, including syntax highlighting, linting, autocomplete, and diff or merge views.Strong knowledge of the modern frontend toolchain: Vite, npm, GitHub Actions, CI/CD, and shipping SPAs for SaaS or Kubernetes-deployed products.A strong testing mindset. Vitest unit coverage and Playwright end-to-end tests are part of your normal definition of done.Hands-on development skills. You still write code, and you can demonstrate, build, review, and improve the application yourself.Practical experience with AI coding assistants in professional development, plus curiosity about where they can genuinely improve frontend engineering.Clear communication, strong teamwork, and comfort collaborating across teams, disciplines, and time zones.Bonus: experience with OIDC or OAuth flows, gRPC or Protobuf-backed systems, enterprise or telecom-grade software, or LLM-backed product features. Why this role You’ll join a focused Stockholm and Gothenburg-based team rebuilding the heart of a proven product for the next decade. This is a clean-room rewrite, guided by real production workloads and clear engineering standards. The frontend is not a layer on top. It is one of the main ways users understand, trust, and operate the platform. The team is small enough that your decisions will shape the product. The company is established enough that what you build will be used by serious enterprise customers in production. We follow a continuous selection process, and the position may be filled before the last application date. DigitalRoute is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse environment, and we actively encourage qualified candidates of all genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, disabilities, and ages to apply.
