Senior Legal Counsel

About the Role Avarda is continuing its growth, and we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to help us get there. In this role you will provide senior legal support on MiFID II regulation, and MiFID related contractual arrangements, working closely with colleagues across products, and the business as we design and implement the legal and regulatory framework for this new venture. Alongside this build-out, you will also provide ongoing legal support to Avarda's existing banking business, so the role combines a forward-looking regulatory project with the day-to-day legal needs of a running bank. We would prefer a lawyer qualified in Sweden, but we welcome applications from qualified lawyers based in any of our other markets. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who wants real ownership of a strategically important build-out, working within an international legal team across Avarda's European markets. Key Responsibilities Act as the group's senior legal expert on MiFID II related regulation, advising the business on licensing and the regulatory requirements that come with operating an investments business, including designing governance structures, internal policies, and customer documentation. Support the legal assessment of new and existing products in close collaboration with product and operations teams Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with business partners and service providers, and contribute to our contract templates and contract lifecycle management system Provide broader legal advice on topics such as contract law, consumer credit law, data privacy, and banking regulation as they arise Work closely with legal colleagues across Avarda's European markets to share knowledge, align best practice, and contribute to group-wide initiatives Help build legal and regulatory awareness across the organization through training and day-to-day advice Qualifications and Experience Law degree with 5+ years of professional experience MiFID regulatory and contractual experience Fluent in English (written and spoken) What We Offer A broad, hands-on legal role with real responsibility from day one Hybrid working model: On-site in Stockholm, combined with remote flexibility A collaborative, international team across multiple European markets Room to grow; we invest in continuous learning and are committed to developing our people
