Senior .NET Developer, Workflow Engine

About the Role You will join an ongoing shift from several standalone .NET applications to a shared Workflow Engine where business logic is modeled through workflows and configuration instead of being spread across separate services. This role combines two technical challenges. You will help extend the platform itself, and you will drive the migration of existing services based on prepared assessments that describe the target approach, existing capabilities, and remaining gaps. That means you will move between framework development, service migration, and hands-on problem solving in a backend environment with many integrations. You will have real influence on how the platform evolves and how future migrations are carried out. It is an exciting opportunity if you enjoy building reusable capabilities while translating complex business logic into robust, configurable solutions. Job Description You will migrate existing .NET services to the Workflow Engine based on defined migration plans. You will translate existing C# business logic into workflows and configuration. You will develop supporting tools around the Workflow Engine, including configuration tools. You will configure, validate, and troubleshoot workflows to ensure they preserve the expected behavior of existing applications. You will contribute to architecture and implementation decisions within the Workflow Engine. You will develop new Workflow Engine components and capabilities identified in the migration assessments. You will extend the .NET codebase with new workflow blocks, integrations, infrastructure capabilities, and platform features where needed. You will apply Configuration as Code and help establish reusable patterns and best practices for future migrations. Requirements Strong experience in C# and .NET. Experience with backend service and API development. Experience with distributed and integration-heavy systems. Experience with asynchronous processing and messaging. Ability to understand and work with existing business logic. Experience designing reusable components and platform capabilities. Comfort working with configuration-driven systems. Ability to work independently and make technical decisions in an evolving architecture. A drug test needs to be performed before assignment starts. Nice to have REST / HTTP APIs. RabbitMQ, MQTT or similar messaging technologies. OPC UA. Docker and Kubernetes. JSON-based configuration and transformation. Event-driven architectures. Workflow engines or rule engines. Observability, logging, and distributed tracing. State management and persistence. Integration patterns and distributed systems.
