Senior SCADA / OT Systems Engineer to a global company in Ludvika

Our client is a global technology company within power transmission and electrification. The organization designs, builds, and upgrades high-voltage transmission installations that move electricity across regions and countries, and its technology is a key enabler of the ongoing energy transition. The site in Ludvika is one of the company's main engineering centres in Sweden, with a large international engineering community and a strong technical tradition. About HVDC Service The HVDC Service organisation works with upgrades, service and warranty support for HVDC installations already in operation around the world. Since these installations have a lifespan of around many years and are upgraded regularly, this is a long, ongoing pipeline of brownfield engineering work. About the role We are looking for a Senior SCADA / OT Systems Engineer to join our client's engineering organization supporting power system and automation projects. In this role, you will contribute to the design, implementation and modernization of SCADA, control and monitoring systems, while supporting cybersecurity initiatives within our deliveries. The ideal candidate has extensive experience working with power utilities, substation automation, industrial communication systems and IT/OT integration. We are looking for a senior profile with a strong understanding of operational technology environments, network architecture and cybersecurity principles for critical infrastructure. Previous experience from large-scale utility, power transmission, substation automation or grid modernization projects is highly valued. Responsibilities • Support engineering teams in the design, implementation and commissioning of SCADA and control system solutions. • Contribute to OT cybersecurity activities and ensure alignment with applicable standards and best practices. • Participate in modernization and upgrade projects involving station control and monitoring systems. • Support discussions with customers and stakeholders regarding SCADA, IT/OT infrastructure and operational requirements. • Coordinate testing, FAT/SAT activities and site commissioning when required. • Provide technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle. Background • Bachelor's or Master's degree within relevant field • Several years of experience working with SCADA, substation automation, power systems or industrial control systems. • Good understanding of industrial communication protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, OPC UA or similar. • Experience with network architecture, high-availability systems and IT/OT integration. • Understanding of cybersecurity concepts related to industrial environments and critical infrastructure. • Fluent English is required. Swedish is considered an advantage • Experience working in international and multicultural project environments. Meritorious • Experience from electrical utilities, transmission systems, HVDC, renewable integration or energy infrastructure projects. • Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity frameworks, standards and secure network design. • Experience leading technical teams, mentoring engineers or coordinating multidisciplinary project activities. • Project Management certification or experience managing technical project deliveries. • Experience with SCADA migrations, control system upgrades and operational technology modernization initiatives.
