Senior Software Development Manager - Finance Platform

the opportunity to : Build a greenfield settlement platform processing billions in daily volume High-impact role — your team's work directly affects vendor/seller payment accuracy and speed Work with cutting-edge distributed systems at massive scale What You Will Do Lead, hire, and grow a team of 8-14 backend engineers building core settlement platform services Own technical delivery of key platform capabilities including revenue/inventory accounting, AR/AP processing, tax invoicing, integration with fintech & SAP. Partner with Product, Accounting, Treasury, and Tax teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions Drive architecture decisions across Java backend services, distributed data stores (MySQL/ TiDB , DynamoDB, Aurora), and streaming infrastructure (Kafka, Flink, Spark) Establish engineering excellence — code quality, operational readiness, on-call practices, and incident response Manage cross-functional dependencies and delivery timelines across multiple platform capabilities Mentor engineers, conduct performance reviews, and build a high-performing engineering culture Drive migration from legacy SAP-based settlement to modern microservices architecture Ensure platform reliability, correctness, and auditability for financial-grade systems processing billions in daily settlements Basic Qualifications 8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years in engineering management Strong technical background in Java backend development and distributed systems Experience managing teams of 10 + engineers through full development lifecycle Hands-on experience with relational databases (MySQL, Aurora, TiDB ) and NoSQL (DynamoDB) Experience with event-driven architectures and streaming platforms (Kafka, Flink, or Spark) Track record of delivering large-scale, high-reliability platforms on time Strong communication skills — ability to translate between business stakeholders and engineering teams BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience Preferred Qualifications Experience in finance, accounting, payments, or e-commerce settlement domains Experience with financial-grade systems (auditability, reconciliation, idempotency, data correctness) Experience migrating legacy monolithic systems to microservices Experience with OLAP/analytics engines (Hive, Pinot) for operational reporting Experience operating at scale in a fast-growing, multi-country environment Type of work model Hybrid / Onsite / Remote working Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees.
