Senior software engineer (AI-Native)

Assignment Description We are seeking three Senior Software Engineers (AI-Native) to build and evolve software for checkout, cart and favourites. You will coordinate dependencies, APIs, state and data flows across these areas and connected commerce services to support a coherent shopping journey. The checkout frontend uses React and TypeScript, with a Node.js/TypeScript backend-for-frontend (BFF) connecting to backend APIs. Static frontend files are delivered through a CDN, while some logic runs at the edge. The environment also includes Azure and Cloudflare. Your responsibility will span ideas, implementation, deployment and production operation. Observability, reliability, security and maintainability will inform development, with production behaviour guiding active troubleshooting and improvements. Automated testing, code quality controls, security checks, architectural rules and CI/CD validation will ensure that increased development speed does not compromise reliability or customer experience. AI coding agents will be used daily to translate product and technical requirements into production-ready software, guided, reviewed and validated through human judgement. You will help establish and continuously improve engineering practices that enable agents to take on increasingly broad tasks, from requirements through implementation, testing and pull requests. This includes defining instructions, context, guardrails and feedback loops for effective, safe work within the codebase. Working with developers, product, UX and neighbouring product teams, you will experiment with and evaluate new agentic engineering techniques, tools and workflows, share effective practices and help develop the team’s skills and working agreements. You will support progress towards at least 90% AI-assisted pull requests and at least 50% primarily agent-written pull requests, measuring whether AI use improves lead time, quality and maintainability. Required Qualifications: Demonstrated experience driving AI-first development on real code and getting others to adopt it. This may come from a client team, your own company, open-source work or a substantial personal project. You must be able to describe your workflow and show the results. Courses, videos and small hobby projects do not qualify. Senior frontend development expertise in React and TypeScript, with assignments involving production web applications handling significant traffic, and the ability to identify and correct errors in generated code. Experience building a Node.js/TypeScript BFF or API layer between a frontend and multiple backend services. Experience owning the software you build in production, including automated tests, frequent releases and resolving problems when they arise. Fluency in spoken and written English. It is considered meritorious if you have experience in e-commerce, particularly checkout, cart, payment or order flows; experience as a technical lead for a production web application handling significant traffic; experience working with accessibility against WCAG; or experience with websites serving multiple markets and languages.
