Hello Senior Software Engineer! Thanks for reading this far. We’re not sure how you found this post. Maybe a colleague mentioned Humblebee, maybe you read one of our stories and thought this looked like a good place to spend your days. However you got here, we’re glad you did. Humblebee is a digital service studio in Sweden. We build digital products with ambitious companies, and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a cloud and data profile to join our product teams, where business, design and tech sit at the same table. Why this role exists Software engineering has changed. AI went from a feature you bolt on to a material you build with. That means knowing what to build, getting the data in order, and making the thing survive contact with production and real users. We’re looking for breadth, and for someone who doesn’t need to be led. You see what needs doing, you say it out loud, and you get it done. What you’ll be doing You might be the spearhead: one engineer covering everything a client needs. You might work in a duo with a service designer, where the two of you cover each other’s blind spots. You might sit in a multidisciplinary team with engineers, designers and business-minded colleagues, sometimes ours, sometimes the client’s. The mix shifts with the assignment. The work could include: Sitting with clients to understand their business, then turning that into something you can build and ship. Mapping how work actually gets done, and finding where AI saves real hours instead of looking clever. Setting up complete AI flows, from data source through model and tooling to the interface people use, and the numbers that prove it pays off. Building web and product features end to end, from data model to interface. Designing data flows: getting data out of the systems it’s stuck in, cleaning it, and making it useful. Building and running AI features that people rely on, such as retrieval, search, agents, recommendations and automated workflows, with evaluation and guardrails in place. Working with cloud platforms and infrastructure as code so what we build can be deployed, monitored and handed over. Taking prototypes to production, and being honest about which ones shouldn’t get there. Using AI tools in your own work, and helping the rest of us get better at it. Explaining trade-offs, assumptions and limits to people who don’t write code. Is this you? You’re a strong engineer first. You’re curious about how a business makes money, not just about the stack. You’d rather ship a small thing that works than a big thing that demos well. AI helps you move fast, and you still own what comes out: it has to hold up a year from now, for whoever picks it up next. You likely have: 8+ years building and running software in production, ideally client-facing. Solid experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS, and with infrastructure as code. Practical experience with data: pipelines, warehouses and lakehouses. Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar is a plus. Strong TypeScript, C#, Java or Python. We work mostly in the JavaScript/TypeScript stack, with .NET, C# and Java in some teams, and Python where it fits. Hands-on experience putting AI into real products: LLM APIs, retrieval, tooling and agents, plus how you know whether it works. A feel for CI/CD, observability and security, because someone has to run this after we hand it over. Comfort in the room with clients, including the ones who don’t know what they want yet. The ability to say no, kindly, when a client asks for the wrong thing. We like T-shaped people: deep in something, useful across the whole. Nobody knows everything, and we don’t expect you to. We do expect you to feel responsible for the whole, and to be straight about where your edges are. You are as important as your skills We hire people as much for their human traits as for their skills. We like good humans around us. We work in the open, in design sprints, development sprints and workshops with clients, so we hire people who are empathetic, kind, patient and generous. We are Humblebee. Before you apply, read this carefully To help us find the right fit, we prioritise candidates on these criteria: Engineering craft. You build software that’s secure, fast and still holds up a year later, and you can point to it. Data and cloud. Real experience moving data around and running things in the cloud, not just reading about it. Business translation. You can turn a vague business problem into a clear technical plan, and explain it back in plain language. Finding the work. You spot the inefficiency the client has stopped noticing, and you can size the value of fixing it. AI in practice. You’ve shipped AI features and can tell us what broke, what you measured and what you’d do differently. Collaboration. You like multidisciplinary teams and you make the people around you better. Growth mindset. You share what you learn and help improve how we work. Tell us about concrete projects. What was the business problem, what did you build, what changed as a result. Outcomes beat tech lists. Good to know This position is full-time, based in our Gothenburg office with a hybrid working model (part office, part home). A Swedish work permit is required. We don’t offer relocation assistance or visa sponsorship. Humblebee is a multi-lingual company, so please write your application in English.
