Join Moleculent and play a key role in building the software backbone of a cutting-edge life science instrumentation platform! If you've built software for lab systems, medtech, instruments, robotics, automation, or machine vision, or you come from traditional software with experience in complex operational systems and want to work closer to a physical product, this could be your next step! Moleculent is on a mission to build products that yield new insights into the molecular foundation of human biology. This is a chance to join a focused and dedicated team with extensive experience building successful life-science companies and products. Our platform combines hardware, imaging, data processing and you will help build the software that ties it all together and turns every instrument run into reliable, usable data. This is a full-time, permanent position based on-site in Solna, Stockholm. Applications close on the 9th of November, but please apply as soon as possible. We review applications continuously, and the role may be filled before the closing date. Applicants should be eligible to work in Sweden without sponsorship. JOB DESCRIPTION As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll join our software team of experienced, driven engineers. You will work across the software that supports the instrument, from experiment orchestration and data processing to operational tools and deployment. You will work side by side with our software technical lead and collaborate daily with the software, analysis, and instrument teams. Over your first year, you will move from contributing across the stack to owning releases, reliability, deployment, and monitoring, with a growing say in architecture. Key responsibilities include: Build and evolve the Python software, orchestration, and data-processing pipelines that run and support instrument experiments Investigate and solve problems that span software, data, infrastructure, and the physical instrument environment Improve reliability, monitoring, diagnostics and recovery across the platform Drive releases, CI/CD, deployment, and production readiness Build operational tools and interfaces for monitoring experiments, jobs, errors, and system health Automate engineering and operational work through scripts, tests, and AI-assisted workflows Review changes across the platform and gradually take ownership of architecture and operational decisions  QUALIFICATIONS We're looking for someone with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. You have 5+ years of professional software development experience, including building software that runs in real-world products or operational systems. Professional proficiency in English is a prerequisite. It's also a strong plus if you have a background in scientific, instrument, robotics, automation, imaging, test-and-measurement, or medtech software. Required qualifications: Strong hands-on Python development experience, with the maturity to take on growing technical ownership Experience developing software as part of a larger product or operational system, where software interacts with broader workflows, infrastructure, data, or physical equipment — not only isolated application services. Solid engineering fundamentals: readable, tested, and maintainable code, APIs, debugging, and code review Some experience with databases, production services, and deployment or CI/CD Comfortable working in Linux environments Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools, and you critically review, test, and take ownership of the changes they produce Bonus qualifications: FastAPI, PostgreSQL or similar Python web/data frameworks Distributed task or compute frameworks (Ray, Celery or similar) and data-processing pipelines Docker, CI/CD systems (Azure DevOps, Jenkins or similar), or on-premise/edge/offline deployments Some React or TypeScript experience You will thrive at Moleculent if you are curious, pragmatic, and enjoy taking real ownership in a small team where your work directly shapes an important product. You like working in a goal-oriented, cross-functional environment where things move fast and change often. You are friendly and positive, with a passion for collaboration and innovation.  MOLECULENT We believe innovative biotechnology has enabled massive leaps forward in understanding the composition of tissues and organs. However, the functional understanding of how cells communicate in their native context and form these complex systems has just begun. We develop technology designed to uncover radical new insights into the cellular level of human biology by mapping the communication between cells in human tissue and providing meaningful data. https://www.moleculent.com/ Please note that Moleculent manages the recruitment process for this position.
