THE ROLE: AMD is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Staff Functional Validation Engineer to drive post-silicon validation, platform bring-up, and debug activities for next-generation AMD Instinct™ AI accelerators. In this highly visible technical leadership role, you will help ensure industry-leading quality, stability, and performance across AMD's AI accelerator portfolio. You will work across silicon design, firmware, BIOS, platform engineering, system validation, and customer enablement teams to develop validation strategies, execute large-scale validation campaigns, root-cause complex system issues, and drive product readiness from first silicon through customer deployment. This role requires deep technical expertise in system-level validation, debug methodologies, and datacenter AI accelerator architectures. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate will be capable of communicating problems, solutions, and project status up to the executive level. You will provide technical supervision or mentoring to junior engineers and influence others as a technical leader. You have the capability assuming the consultative or leadership responsibilities for large projects or product development initiatives, while dealing with internal and external groups on behalf of the group or project. This role allows the opportunity to influence technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Validation Strategy & Execution Define and drive end-to-end post-silicon functional validation strategies for AMD Instinct AI accelerators. Architect scalable validation plans and test content to maximize feature coverage and minimize product risk. Drive validation readiness across silicon, firmware, BIOS, drivers, platform, and system software stacks. Lead validation execution across single-card, multi-card, and rack-scale accelerator deployments. Solves sophisticated, novel, and non-recurring problems; initiates significant changes to existing processes/ methods and leads development and implementation Drive quality assessments and readiness criteria for engineering, customer, and production milestones. Identify validation gaps and proactively mitigate escape risks. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Strong experience in silicon validation, platform validation, system validation, or hardware debug. Strong experience in post-silicon bring-up and functional validation. Deep understanding of computer architecture and datacenter systems. Proven expertise in complex debug and root-cause analysis. Experience with Linux-based validation environments. Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and hardware debuggers. Strong scripting/programming skills (Python, C/C++, Bash, or similar). ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelors or Master’s in computer engineering or computer science or electrical engineering, or comparable disciplines.
