Senior System Architect / Requirements Engineer – Control Systems We are looking for an experienced System Architect / Requirements Engineer for a long-term product development assignment within advanced technical systems. The project is transitioning from the Concept Phase into the Development Phase, with a strong focus on maturing the system architecture, resolving open architectural decisions, and completing and refining the system requirements. The technical environment consists of a complex automated control system where software, hardware, and multiple physical subsystems interact. The role therefore requires a strong understanding of system architecture, requirements engineering, system integration, and technical dependencies. Responsibilities As part of the assignment, you will: Support and drive the transition from Concept Phase to Development Phase within a defined technical area. Drive the resolution of open architectural choices and technical trade-offs. Develop, structure, refine, and ensure the quality of system requirements. Own and take responsibility for a defined requirements area, ensuring quality, structure, and traceability. Support system decomposition and allocation of requirements to relevant subsystems. Ensure consistency between system architecture, requirements, and technical solutions. Lead and support technical investigations and assess their impact at system level. Update architecture and requirements based on findings from technical investigations and engineering decisions. Facilitate workshops related to architecture, requirement refinement, and technical decisions. Coach engineers and Product Owners in Requirements Engineering, requirement structure, and the use of requirements management tools. Support engineering teams with system-level expertise, technical investigations, and information sessions. Collaborate closely with project management, architects, Product Owners, and distributed engineering teams. Requirements We are looking for someone who has: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar technical discipline. At least 10 years of experience in software architecture and software development. At least 5 years of experience in Requirements Engineering. Broad experience in system and software architecture within complex technical products. Strong understanding of systems where software, hardware, control systems, and physical subsystems interact. Practical experience with system decomposition, requirement allocation, and requirements traceability. Experience ensuring consistency and alignment between system architecture and requirements. Experience with requirements management tools, preferably Polarion or equivalent. Demonstrated experience planning and leading technical workshops. Experience working according to Agile development methodologies. Advanced professional proficiency in English. Meritorious Experience from the development of complex mechatronic, automated, industrial, or embedded products is considered an advantage. Experience with HW/SW integration, interface management, MBSE, embedded systems, process/control systems, or system architecture involving multiple interacting subsystems is also highly relevant. Personal Profile You are self-driven, structured, and comfortable taking ownership of complex technical topics. You can move between a system-level perspective and detailed requirements, interfaces, and technical dependencies. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as you will collaborate with architects, engineers, Product Owners, project management, and other technical stakeholders. You are comfortable facilitating technical discussions, challenging architectural decisions, and creating alignment around architecture and requirements. Experience working in an international and distributed engineering environment is highly valued.
