Software Engineer, Foundation

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a mid-level engineering role on the Foundation team at a Series B EdTech platform serving tens of millions of students globally. The Foundation team owns the technical base that all product engineers build on: the Flutter mobile app, agentic and AI infrastructure, developer experience tooling, and Go services. Your work multiplies across 25+ engineers and ships directly to students every day. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Own core parts of the Flutter mobile app, including shared components, the design system, state management, performance, and tooling. - Build and maintain agentic and AI infrastructure, including custom MCP servers, a background agent platform, and evaluation and feedback loops. - Help integrate agentic coding tooling into day-to-day engineering workflows across the team. - Improve developer experience through CI/CD pipelines, release tooling, and faster feedback loops between writing code and seeing it live. - Ship user-facing product features alongside platform and infrastructure work. - Keep the existing foundation reliable so a growing team of engineers can build on it with confidence. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 2 to 4 years of production experience building mobile (Flutter/Dart preferred) or web applications; deep platform-engineering tenure is not required. - Daily, fluent use of agentic coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar, with a genuine point of view on where they work well and where they fall short. - Strong academic background in computer science or a related field from a well-regarded university. - An eye for design: you notice inconsistent spacing, animations that feel off, or components that are close but not quite right. - Clear written and spoken English communication and a genuine preference for improving systems that slow other people down. - Comfort operating at pace in a fast-moving, high-intensity startup environment. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Salary range: 80,000 to 110,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. LOCATION On-site in Berlin, Germany.
