Staff Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE This is a foundational engineering role at an early-stage AI data platform, where you will help design and build the core infrastructure powering a real-time people data and agent platform. You will work directly alongside executive leadership on technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap decisions that will shape the company for years to come. WHAT YOU'LL DO - Design, build, and operate core infrastructure including APIs, LLM-powered workflows, web scraping systems, and large-scale knowledge graph architecture. - Architect and maintain production-grade systems capable of handling millions of API requests, with a focus on performance, cost efficiency, and reliability across cloud and Linux server environments. - Own projects end-to-end, from ambiguous problem definition through deployment and iteration, shipping quickly without sacrificing system integrity. - Collaborate directly with senior technical leadership on architectural decisions and roadmap priorities. - Contribute broadly across the stack, including developer documentation, technical tutorials, internal tooling, and experimental builds. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR - 10 or more years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record of shipping code to production at scale. - Hands-on experience with Linux servers in production environments. - Experience with agent orchestration, LLMs, or web scraping. - Experience designing or operating APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), or high-volume data pipelines. - Demonstrated ability to own ambiguous projects from architecture through deployment and iteration. - A completed degree from a well-regarded university in a relevant field. - Currently based in San Francisco and comfortable working in person. - Background at a high-growth tech company or early-stage startup is a strong plus. - Previous experience as a founder or early-stage engineer is a plus. - No visa sponsorship available; must be authorized to work in the United States. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base salary: $250,000 to $300,000 USD annually. Equity is expected given the early-stage nature of the role. No visa sponsorship is available. LOCATION On-site in San Francisco, CA. This is an in-person role.
