Staff Product Designer, Growth
QUICK SUMMARY You'll set the vision for how Kin's products attach to each other — turning single-product customers into multi-product homeowners — starting with a ground-up rebuild of the sales agent UI. WHO WE ARE Kin makes life simpler, more affordable, and better for homeowners — especially in the places where climate risks, rising costs, and outdated systems make it hardest. We start with smarter homeowners insurance and expand to everything homeowners need to thrive. Using data, technology, and thoughtful human support, we're building products that are clear, fair, and help homeowners feel confident — so homeowners aren't left behind when they need help most. Founded in 2016, Kin is a remote-first employer with Kinfolk across more than 35 states. We serve customers in 14 states (and counting). Our disciplined growth, strong customer satisfaction, and focus on long-term sustainability fosters outstanding growth, attracts marquee investors, and earns recognition and accolades, including: - Built In Chicago's Best Places to Work, Midsize Companies (2021-2026) - Forbes' America's Best Startup Employers (2026) - Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies - Forbes' Fintech 50 (2023-2026) - Great Places to Work Certified (2024-2026) Most importantly, we're building Kin to be a place where people do meaningful work with real impact — for our customers, our communities, and each other. We're excited to tell you more about how you can contribute to our rapid growth, strong unit economics, profitability, and excellent customer ratings. THE OPPORTUNITY We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to set the standard for how Kin acquires customers and helps them add coverage — and to shape the bets behind that work. Growth owns the highest-visibility surfaces at Kin and the most direct lever we have on the business: raising attachment lifts revenue per customer, brings down CAC, and compounds straight into profitability. This is a senior individual contributor role with no direct reports — your impact comes from the quality of your thinking and the reach of your influence, not from managing a team. The first problem you'll take on: a brand-new sales agent UI. Our agents need to move faster and close more effectively, and the tool they work in is where that happens, and it's the first proof point for the bigger attachment vision above. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES - Frame and lead the highest-stakes, most ambiguous growth problems — the ones that span multiple products and don't arrive with a brief - Make the attachment and cross-sell moments between products feel like one journey, so customers actually move into their next Kin product seamlessly - Shape how new products get introduced and sold alongside what a customer already owns, not just how existing products cross-sell to each other. - Own the design vision for the sales agent UI, from problem framing through a shipped experience agents are measurably faster in - Set the craft standard the rest of the growth work is measured against, and define what "good" means for this domain - Bring design's point of view into the rooms it isn't always in — strategy, roadmap, prioritization — to help inform and influence decisions there - Strengthen how growth tests and learns, so wins compound instead of depending on any one person - Use AI tools as core enablement to move faster through exploration, prototyping, and craft work SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. You'll use your skills and judgment to take ownership of meaningful work, improve how we operate, and help move Kin's mission forward. Along the way, you'll deliver outcomes that make a real difference for both Kinfolk and the homeowners we serve. By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you've helped make. - You’ve set the vision and design strategy for the sales agent UI, it ships, and agents demonstrably move through their work faster - Attachment and cross-sell moments between products feel like one seamless journey — customers move into their next Kin product without feeling like they're starting over with a new company - Product and engineering pull you into growth bets early — at the "what and why," not just the "make it look right" - At least one growth change you led moves attachment measurably — or produces a decisive learning that redirects the roadmap - The handoffs between products stop feeling like separate companies, and growth has a repeatable way to test and ship design work WHAT YOU'LL BRING - A track record of owning ambiguous, cross-cutting problems end to end and setting direction where none existed - Business fluency: you tie design decisions to the outcomes leadership cares about, and you make the quality-versus-speed trade-off out loud - Influence that travels — you bring partners along without authority over them, and your judgment is something others rely on - Strong instincts for data and measurement: you define what to instrument and read the funnel to know whether the work moved the number Bonus if you have: - Experience designing tools for internal or expert users — agents, ops, sales — where speed and accuracy matter more than polish - Insurance, fintech, or another regulated domain background HOW WE HIRE We believe a great hiring experience should be clear, respectful, and human. We will accept applications for this position until September 18, 2026. While our recruiting team uses AI tools for efficiency, resumes are still screened by Kin's in-house recruiters, and candidate evaluations and hiring decisions are made by recruiters and hiring teams. Rest assured, real people make real decisions. The hiring process and timeline for each role wil
