We are looking for a Massachusetts Grade III Wastewater Operator to join our team at the Cohasset Wastewater Treatment Facility. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving problems, working outdoors, and being part of a team that helps protect the environment, we'd love to hear from you.
As part of our Operations & Maintenance team, you'll play a key role in ensuring the facility operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental regulations. Every day brings something different, offering opportunities to learn, grow, and advance your career.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Operators also participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours plant coverage and may occasionally respond to emergency situations or work during inclement weather.
What You'll Do:
As a Wastewater Operator, you'll be involved in the daily operation and maintenance of a 0.45 MGD membrane bioreactor (MBR) wastewater treatment facility and collection system.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting daily plant inspections and operational rounds
Monitoring treatment processes and performing process control adjustments
Collecting samples and performing laboratory testing and analysis
Maintaining accurate operational records and reports
Assisting with sludge thickening operations
Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment
Supporting facility, grounds, and collection system maintenance
Following all safety procedures and environmental regulations
Responding to operational issues and emergency situations as needed
What We're Looking For
Massachusetts Grade III Wastewater Operator License At least two years of wastewater treatment operations and maintenance experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience High school diploma or trade school certification Valid Massachusetts driver's license Strong communication and teamwork skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Familiarity with wastewater treatment processes, laboratory procedures, recordkeeping, and equipment maintenance
Physical Requirements
This position involves both indoor and outdoor work in a wastewater treatment environment. Candidates must be able to: Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds Walk throughout the facility and collection system to perform inspections and operational rounds Climb ladders, stairs, and access elevated structures as needed Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work in confined spaces when required Work safely in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow Respond to emergency situations outside of normal work hours as needed Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures
